Another Silly Car

I like to call this one The Po-Po Pimp. Why, you ask? Because he's taken a crown vic and pimped it out with tinted windows and a sound system - but he kept the classic police antennas and rims. He's 'undercover' - ha ha!

Fun With Wax

Since we don't get a babysitter, we tend not to do much for 'romantic' holidays - which is fine with us since we know we'll have more than enough time together after Sam leaves the house. We're not looking forward to that day just yet - but his teenage years are still a long way off.

Anyway, we still celebrate romantic holidays - we just like to do a family lunch instead of a date. So this year, we visited one of my favorite restaurants - Ted's Montana Grill. I know what you're thinking, Ted Turner's restaurant, really? Oh yeah, the food is delicious - especially the bison. Who knew I would be enjoying bison burgers and bison meatloaf and such, just a few years after being a vegetarian. I try not to eat a lot of red meat, but when I do, I'd like something lean - and bison is much better for you than beef.

So, you know how most restaurants will give kids crayons and a cheap coloring book to play with until the food arrives? Well, Ted's offers what they call Wikki Stix. It's basically skinny sticks of wax that kids can mold to make letters, shapes, etc. Sam used to try to eat them when he was younger, but he's past the point of putting absolutely everything in his mouth now. So he gets into the fun by doing things like this:
Isn't he too cute? (the answer is YES!!)

Trend Setter

We always knew that Sam was ahead of all the other kids in his class, but now we know he's quite the trend setter too. Check out this new look he 'threw' together while we were riding home from Nana's house. We'll have to get another pair of glasses as he broke these while making his final adjustments to his new look. Oh well, the good news is that the stores started stocking their summer gear as soon as Christmas was over.

Christmas Cactus? Really?

Ok, so about 6 years ago - just before the Christmas holidays - I went to a K-Mart in VA and bought a little christmas cactus that was about to finish blooming. What a great buy right - you don't have to water it very often and it blooms every year around the holidays. Well, the year I brought it home was the last year I saw any blooms on it.

I have tried placing it in different areas of my apartment/house....replanting it in different pots...giving it fertilizer....and I may have talked to it once - but I was probably using a threatening tone at that point.

Well, this year when we had some family over at the beginning of December for Sam's birthday. My grandmother told me that I obviously had it in the wrong place in the house. Oh well, I thought - at least I haven't killed it yet. My hope for it to bloom had been long gone so I left it where it was. Well wouldn't you know - it's decided to bloom! Ok, it's a couple months late - but wow, I forgot how beautiful it looks in bloom. Check it out...
That's a money plant beside it. We're still waiting for it to produce some bills - or even some change. We'll take whatever we can get.

Jews 4 Jesus

Growing up in a small town in the south, I was not exposed to MANY different cultures or religions. So to this day, I'm still fascinated with people who are different from me. I barrage them with quirky questions and badger them to tell me about themselves, their culture and/or their religion. I'm pretty sure it's annoying, but you know me.

Anyway, when we saw this bus on the road this past weekend, I had to take a picture. I've never seen a Jews For Jesus bus - it looked very nice. And I was surprised to see it heading out of the 'big city' of Raleigh. I wonder where they were going?
