Out of towners

Out of towners always seem to be the worst drivers - no matter what state you are in. Here's an example - I was at the stop light on my way home this week and beside me was a guy from New York. He decided he was too important to wait for the light to change and creeped into the middle of the intersection. I thought he was going to actually run the light.
And you can't see it in the picture - but the guy had 2 retired NYPD hats in the back window.

Fun at the mall

With the weather being in the 90s on a regular basis, sometimes we go to the mall in the evenings to walk around and get some exercise. On this occasion we may have stayed a little too long. This is Sam having a mall meltdown (this is after running laps for 30 mins)
And here daddy tried to join in on the fun....Sam didn't see the humor in it though.

Ah - the pool!

Our neighborhood pool is quite convenient. They have 2 separate pools - one for swimming laps and one for playing that has a huge slide. In the fun pool, they have a very shallow end, perfect for the little ones. We let Sam play around in this end and maybe when the water gets a little warmer, we'll take him in the deeper end. Here his is getting his ankles wet.And here he is playing with his pool toys. There are usually tons of other little kids in the pool too, so there are a multitude of toys floating around. We even had to put Sam's name on his so they don't get lost or misplaced in someone else's little hands.
And on Friday nights, they get a band to play. It's usually some local band that covers standard tunes you heard on the radio growing up. Sam likes it - he'll even dance if the band is decent. Oh, and they have a snack bar that sells burgers, deli sandwiches, bagels and junk food - and beer or wine. But you can always bring your own food and beverages in a cooler - and they have gas grills if you want to cook your own meat.

Scary Cat

We have some neighbors that decided to decorate their house, yard and even mailbox for Halloween last year. They put a fake cat - in full screech - mounted on the top of their mailbox. It was cute at the time - but evidently they thought it was the pinnacle of decorating. Since then, they have decorated 'scary cat' for each holiday and/or season. Thing santa hat for Christmas, red hearts for Valentine's Day, green top hat for St. Patty's Day, etc.

Well, it's summer and they've changed the scary cat costume again. Scary cat is read for the pool.
Stay tuned for more scary cat costumes!

Is This a Sign or Am I Jinxed?

Seems like I've been getting a little too close for comfort to the fire department lately. I was coming home from work this week and a fire truck pulled out just in front of me to go on a call. Yes, I stopped and let them out - I'm not a jerk.
But then I was heading to Chapel Hill to meet Michelle for dinner (she was in town for a training conference) and a fire truck pulled off an on-ramp just behind me.
Is this a sign or am I jinxed? Either way, I'm staying away from matches, lighters and anything flammable.

My Boys

Today was 'water day' at Sam's school. So we had to slather him down with sunscreen and get him prepared. This is daddy helping Sam get his shoes on while on the kitchen island.
How cute are they?

Sam and His Breakfast

Some days it's hard to get Sam to eat breakfast, so I bribe him with some Thomas cartoons on my laptop if he eats. That usually does the trick. See, he even takes big bites
But sometimes he uses his hands to remove his breakfast from his mouth - how cute (not really)
