Sam dressed up as Elmo for Halloween this year - and here are a few friends that also got into the spirit of the holiday.
This is Sam and his friend Kaela (penguin) - they have the same cute smile and look at those cheeks!
And here is their friend Jason (Thomas the Tank Engine) who is also having lots of fun.
On my way to work this morning, I realized that I was in the presence of a truly very important person. This guy was SO important that he drove in the median of Capital Blvd just to make the light ahead. I'm sure he must be a world leader or a neurosurgeon or maybe a rocket scientist ... >smirk<
I saw this car on my way home from Durham today. So, now I know who to flag down if I ever go into labor while driving down I-540.

They started on the roof today.

I see lots of 'different' vehicles on the road down here - remember the dune buggy? I saw this one today - looks fun and cool ... and by cool, I mean cold. Doesn't this guy know it's 35 degrees out?

They finished out the framing today

We came home today to see that they have started on the walls.

On my way to work this morning, I was at a stop light when I saw a half eaten piece of chicken flying over my car and landing in the lane to the left of me. As I looked to my right to see where it departed, I saw this.
You'd think the guy could have just thrown it in the back of his own truck!
Another gift from Nana's visit was these pajamas. And yes, they glow in the dark - but the camera on my phone is not good enough to capture that image.
He LOVES them and is always asking to turn off the lights so he can see them glow.
They really should get more

I went to Chapel Hill tonight to have dinner with one of my dearest friends - Shelly. Luckily she comes up every few months for training, so we get to do this on a regular basis. After dinner, we went to the Southpoint Mall to do a little looking and we saw more than we expected.
Even though this mall is 'technically' in Durham, it's on the border with Chapel Hill. It's a very nice mall with upscale stores and restaurants. So when we saw this kid getting cuffed, we were a little shocked.
I know the pic is blurry - but we were driving and I thought it rude to stop and gawk while getting the pic.
They finished the supports and started the flooring. They got the grilling deck complete.

Today they completed the supports for the base of the porch. It's going to be nice and roomy.

I can't wait - how long is this going to take?
I really get a kick out of all the personalized license plates around here. I saw this one today.
I guess that's one way to come out of the closet. Be proud girlfriend!
Sometimes I think Sam isn't really my kid - he's so cool! I'm not sure where he got it because he's got some seriously dorky parents (did you read the google post?). Here he is in his new favorite shirt that his Nana bought for him:
And here he is playing on his favorite playground toy:
I'm so jealous!
True nerds know that Google is a one trick pony trying desperately to push out anything that can top or match their search engine....keep trying guys. For example - have you noticed how your Gmail gets worse by the day - at times it kicks you out of chat, it moves much slower now with more people using it and sometimes you have to load it in old HTML format. The volume of users is slowly killing it. Anyway, here's someone who jumped on the Google bandwagon with zeal.

And it's gone! Ok, they left the main supports - but the rest of it, including floorboards, are outta here. I bet it was fun tearing it apart.

After seeing that the contractor had started on our porch, we got excited and hungry....so we went out to dinner. When we returned, we had a new surprise on our lawn....in the front yard....right behind our mailbox.
That's my neighbor's house to the left. We live on a cul-de-sac so the front yards appear small but we don't even see our neighbors' houses in the back yard. So to have a porta-potty in my front yard, and nearly in my neighbors front yard, is a little disconcerting. I'm sure this is going to smell good in a few days...ugh!
We have been planning on adding a new screen porch on our house since we bought it. After a few good bonuses by my hard working husband, we decided it was time. And here is Day 1 of the construction process:

Ok, so all they did was bring over their supplies and move our grill and furniture off the old deck. But stay tuned, tomorrow is demolition day!
With the upcoming elections being less than 3 weeks away, the excitement can really get people going. We see the bumper stickers on cars pretty regularly, but it's rare that you see any yard signs in our neighborhood. This morning as I was leaving for work, I noticed these 2 signs in my neighbors yard.
McCain-Palin....and McCrory? It looks like they aren't my favorite neighbors anymore.
'Nuff Said.
I'm constantly amazed at the creativity people take with their cars in Raleigh - even if it's just a custom paint job and some big rims.
I guess some people would consider this car a 'classic.'
Sam has now stopped taking naps at school. We've also been struggling to get him to take naps at home on the weekends. So by the end of the day you can only imagine how goofy and fussy he gets. The other day he must have really been worn out because on the way home he wanted his neck pillows so he could 'take a nap'. He was pretending of course, but it did make him a little tired.
Sam is quite adept at getting a milk mustache - a real pro I'd say. But today he got a mustache I have yet to see....
A butter mustache.
I get a little miffed when I see non-handicapped people using handicap parking spots. Especially the ones that are ashamed to drive around with the handicap rear view mirror hanger - until they pull into a front row spot. And then they hop out of the car and run inside their oh so important store. But today we went out for lunch and saw an obviously handicapped person using the special parking spot - I'm so glad they got the one in front and not someone who doesn't really need it.

I kid you not, I was coming home from work and saw this car with this strange box in the back window. At first I thought it was some sort of owl eyes - but as I got closer I read the box and it said - Targets.
I don't know if having targets in your back window is such a good idea. At least it's not hunting season I guess.
So you know about the person in our neighborhood that owns 'Scary Cat.' Well apparently their next door neighbor was inspired to decorate for Halloween this year also. Let me introduce, 'Scary Spider':
I didn't have time for more pictures but this isn't where the decorating ends for these 2 neighbors. They also have their yards supplemented with a pumpkin snowman, orange lights around a tree, fake gravestone and etc. I'll try to stop one day and so you can get the full effect....but I'll wait until closer to Halloween - they seem to add more stuff every weekend.
And on another note, Sam and I were coming back from an outing today and saw a silver Honda Civic's attempt at homicide on Scary Spider. Evidently this driver wasn't very skilled with 3 pt turns (even on a wide road) and backed up wildly and knocked the mailbox clean off it's post. But he did stop and try to put it back on and didn't even survey the damage to his back fender....that was impressive. I thought for sure he'd just take off.
Why aren't Dodge Neons only available in neon colors? This is the brightest one I can find - and technically, that's not neon.

Do you know how hard it is to go to work each day when you pass this on your way?
Makes me miss the days when I could enjoy these from sunrise to sunrise....
