Went out for some girl time and a good pedicure today with Shelly. It was so much fun. And nothing beats a glass of wine, a massage chair and someone rubbing your feet. I even opted for a little design on my big toes.

Jump Around

Sam has never been a fan of the moon bounce houses. He was a little slow in even learning how to jump. But we went to a birthday party this weekend at Jumping Beans at The Factory in Wake Forest and he did fantastic. The only mishap was when mommy was in there with him - and he slipped and hit his head on mommy's knee. After a brief bout of crying, he told mommy that he was ready to go back in but that mommy had to stay out!
He likes to do the stunt man fall.
That blur on the left is Kaela. When Nana asked Sam if he had a girlfriend in his class his reply was, 'Actually, I think that would be Kaela.' He has good taste!
And here he is venturing through the inflatable towers. The big kid in the back was nice enough to help Sam up the steps so he could go down that big blue slide a few times. What a sweetheart! I'm so proud of him!

For Valentine's Day my wonderful husband had my mother come up and babysit Sam so we could have a real date. This was our first real date in over 3 years - it was much needed! Here is Sam and Nana playing at lunch the next day.

A Day At The NC Zoo

The weather has been really nice all week - 60s and low 70s. So instead of laying around for yet another lazy Sunday, we decided to take a trip to the NC Zoo. It's only about 1.5 hrs away and won't be crowded in February. The animals were all out since the weather was so nice and we were able to get some good exercise. Here's Sam waiting for the Tram.

Sam has been playing soccer for about 6 months now. He likes it more now than he did when we first started. He even pays attention to the coaches when they are teaching the drills and games. Here he is in his new uniform

I had to go back to work this week. It was slow and painfully boring. So, I went to the bank to have a document notarized. I had someone in Pasadena, CA figure out my credit card number and went on a little shopping spree. I was a little offended that they only went to Marshall's, Blockbuster and Jack In The Box....I have much better credit than that - ha!.

But I digress....So, as I was waiting in the bank for the notary to return from his lunch break (yep, that's how bored I was), this man came in looking for a bank mgr.
I heard him telling the manager that he needed some documentation from them with his name and social security number on it because he won $12,000 from the lottery and they didn't want to give up the money without more identification. So take a good look - you might know him.

As some of you may know - the previous coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bill Cowher, (that's football Michelle - ha!) moved to the Raleigh area after he retired. He and his wife both went to NC State and want to enjoy the area with their kids.

So, I took today off to run some errands and get ready for Sam's birthday party this weekend. First stop was Harris Teeter to order his Disney Cars birthday cake. As I was waiting for the bakery person, I turned around and saw Bill Cowher right beside me. It actually took me about 3 seconds to recognize him, but when I did - I was too flabbergasted to say anything more than 'Hey, how's it going' (I'm such a dork). But he was nice and replied - Hey and got his container of bakery chocolate chip cookies. Once I gained my composure, I whipped out my new cell phone and got a nice pic of his backside (yeah, I'm that good)
As exciting as that was, my 2 all time favorite guys are right here

Sam isn't much of a meat eater. We were hoping he would come out of the womb begging for bbq but that may not happen for a while still. I did however make a break through this week and got him to try bacon. Yes, it's turkey bacon - I can't stomach the real stuff with all that fat - ugh!
And to make sure he gets more than his share of calories - those eggs have cheese and milk in them and that toast has the biggest pat of butter under all that jelly.

Oh, and Sam helped me vote today. His first presidential election and we voted for Obama - fingers crossed, he's not a popular pick in our neighborhood, but we believe in him!

With the weather starting to get crappy, the contractors weren't able to do much today. But they did get the handrail for the steps complete. Now Sam can walk down the steps by himself.

With the election coming up, I was eager to cast my vote. We went to the Triangle Town Center a few times to try and early vote - but always found a long line. Since today is the last day to early vote, I decided to try one more time. Sam and I drove up at 10:00 - when they open - and found this enormously long line:
On the right is where the line starts - it wraps back down and around on the left side....
Then it wrapped around that building and down the back side. This was by far the longest line we had encountered - so needless to say, we're going to wait until Nov 4th.

A Quiet Lunch
